More leverage for badly stuck container doors. The OPNBar Version 4 Long (Heavier Duty) is a 22" large-mouth container leverage bar with a detachable extension that takes it to 42". Use it short for everyday doors, or add the extension when a stuck, rusted or iced-over container door needs serious leverage. Works as a cheater bar or breaker bar. Made in the USA.
22" to 42" with the Detachable Extension
The top bar is 22" long and weighs about 4 lb. Attach the lightweight extension bar and you get 42" of reach, so you can apply more force with less effort while standing clear of the door.
Features
- Fits triangular container levers as well as standard and rubber-sleeved handles
- Large, deep mouth with more bend for wider compatibility
- Double ergonomic grip for two-handed control
- Detachable extension bar: 22" extends to 42"
- Extended handle for more clearance
- Breaker bar, cheater bar and torque bar for stuck latches and doors
- Works on shipping container and truck trailer doors
- Optional 5th wheel release hook
- Extension-ready for upcoming OPNBar extensions
- Made in the USA by SCS International
How to Use It on a Shipping Container Door
- Start with the right-hand door. On standard containers it overlaps the left door, so it opens first.
- Lift the locking handles out of their retainers.
- Seat the OPNBar's mouth over the handle, pushing it down as far as it will go.
- Attach the extension bar if the door is badly stuck and you need more leverage.
- Pull the long end of the bar with steady force, using your legs and body weight rather than your back. The lockrods turn and the cams release.
- Remove the bar and swing the door open while standing to the side, in case cargo has shifted against the door.
To close, swing the door shut, seat the bar on the handle and push it back into its retainer. The same steps work on truck trailer doors. For every handle type, the extension and the 5th wheel hook, see How to Use the OPNBar. For more tips, including iced-over doors, see our complete guide to opening a stuck shipping container door.

Designed With Operators in Mind
Trucking, cargo and insurance companies lose billions of dollars a year to operator injuries, and about half of all trucking injuries are sprains and strains. OPNBar tools are designed to let you use leverage instead of jerking on stuck doors, latches and hitches by hand, to help reduce strain on your back and shoulders.
Official OPNBar instructions: How to use the OPNBar Version 4 | How to use OPNBar extensions
Ergonomic Design
The OPNBar is designed around the way your body moves when you open a stiff container door. It extends the door latch handle, so you can use a steady pull from your legs and body weight instead of jerking the handle with your wrists and back. Watch the OPNBar ergonomic trucker tool in use:
FAQ
Can I use it as a cheater bar?
Yes, for container latches and similar leverage tasks. Don't use it as a pipe extension on wrenches or tools not designed for that force.
How do I open a shipping container door that's stuck?
Seat the OPNBar's mouth over the door latch handle and pull on the long end of the bar. The extra length gives you more leverage, so you can turn the lockrods with a steady pull instead of yanking the handle by hand. For a full walkthrough, see our guide to opening a stuck container door.
Will it fit handles with rubber sleeves?
Yes. The large mouth fits over rubber-sleeved handles, so you don't need to cut the sleeve off.
Safe Use
- Use the OPNBar for container latches and other intended leverage tasks. Don't use it as a pipe extension on wrenches or tools not designed for that force.
- Inspect the tool for wear, cracks or damage before each use.
- Wear gloves, eye protection and proper footwear.
- Make sure the bar is securely seated before applying force, and don't exceed safe force limits.

A must have!

I have had a sea container for over two years and have always dreaded opening and closing the large heavy doors. The latch handles are almost more than I can handle. Now that I have the handle extender I have no problem opening and closing the doors. If you have one or more sea containers, this handle is a must have device in my opinion!

I am small woman with 3 conexes on my cabin property. The ease of opening is variable at best. Some handles I couldn't get open at all, some open easily. This bar solves the problem. It works and is easy to use. I hated spending this much money on it, but it was worth every penny.
